Wildlife in Delta

Potential wildlife habitat suitability for wildlife |
||
This map shows the wildlife habitat suitability of Delta. The urban areas and the roads are unusable by animals. The agricultural fields can be used by some animals while the wetlands, including marshes and Burns Bog, are extremely important for wildlife. the Alaksen Refuge, Boundary Bay and Burns Bog are very important sites for migratory birds. In order that the the "wildlife-friendly" areas of Delta remain useable by animals, they must be connected to each other. Many animals, especially shorebirds, are secretive and do not like being around urban areas. If the green areas of the map are increasingly segregated by black areas, many animals will no longer be able to use the green areas. In that case, the only wildlife left would be common urban animals, such as raccoons, squirrels, crows, and gulls. |
