Dali Walled City, Capital of the historic Nanzhao Kingdom (750-902 A.D.) and much less powerful Dali Kingdom (937-1253).  Rulers of both kingdoms were ethnic Bai.  The Kingdom of Dali was destroyed by invading Mongol forces
