The majority of Bai People are integrated with the Han Chinese population.  However, they have kept some of their traditions, such as the use of the colour white in their costumes and architecture.

Many households are built in this style, a rectangular courtyard surrounded on its three sides by living space.  The remaining side has a white wall, which faces west.  At sunset, it reflects light into all three compartments to prolong usable daylight.  This architecture is similar to the traditional Han Chinese style, in that there are few windows facing the outside, houses are usually rectangular
