Note: Only countries that are internationally recognized (in 2005) are written in capitalized bold letters.. Myanmar is also known as Burma. Hong Kong and Macau are Special Administrative Regions of the People's Republic of China since 1997 and 99 respectively. Taiwan has its own government and military but is not internationally recognized as a country. Under its own constitution, Taiwan is part of the Republic of China (est. in 1911). The Republic of China's constitution includes territorial claims over all of China as well as Mongolia, although Taiwan's government has de facto renounced the claims over Mongolia. Mongolia is an internationally recognized sovereign nation since 1961. Mainland China recognizes Taiwan as one of its provinces, and intends to resolve the uncertain political status with its "One country two systems policy". India, Pakistan have claimed Kashmir for years although China has also claimed the northern part of Kashmir. Maps published by various publishers contain different boundaries or lines of control.
